Aids and Me: Putting the "Me" into HIV
Our Aim: To provide us with an opportunity to come to terms with HIV in our own lives and to develop personal and collective action plans for dealing better with the disease and the problems associated with it.
Duration: 3 days
Pioneered by veteran AIDS activist, Peter Busse, AIDS and Me allows participants to look at HIV and AIDS from a personal perspective, providing a foundation for individual and collective action.
- AIDS and Me explores:
- HIV transmission: how the virus behaves and how
- Issues of stigma and discrimination
- Voluntary testing and counselling
- Sex and sexuality
- Reproductive rights
This participatory workshop provides a safe and supportive space for addressing individual concerns about HIV and AIDS. Participants identify the problems they face when it comes to dealing with HIV and AIDS, and come up with action plans to address these problems at a personal, family and community level.
Positive Vibes suggests that AIDS and Me is used as a starting point for all programmes and projects.
